Germany, Heer. A Panzer Officer’s Overseas Field Cap

Item #G45914

$1,015
(Heer Panzer Schiffchen). An extremely well-preserved Heer Panzer Officer’s overseas field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The crown of the cap is fully trimmed with silver aluminum wire piping, while the cap also features fold-down side panels, similarly trimmed at the front with silver aluminum wire piping. Stitched into the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of a forest-green wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 75 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). Underneath the eagle, a rose-pink soutache is securely stitched to the cap, in turn surrounding a tri-colour silver aluminum wire cockade. The exterior features are completed by dual ventilation holes, with one located at each side, reinforced with magnetic metal eyelets. The interior features a field-grey rayon liner, and is plain with the exception of a grey leather sweatband at the forehead, as well as a black ink size stamp of “58”. The cap is otherwise unmarked and measures approximately 292 mm (l) x 100 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident, along with some oxidation of the ventilation eyelets, but the cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
