Brunswick, Duchy. A Royal Shooting Award, c.1866

A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse centre bears a cut out lion rampant with forked tail within an oak leaf wreath with ribbons throughout, the bottom features a loop with a left facing crowned bird pendant hanging below, the top bears a crown suspension with a red felt detail, the reverse bears the inscription “Königschiessen d. 11-13 Juni Braunschweig” (Royal Shooting 11-13 June Brunswick), measuring 38.60 mm (w) x 78.10 mm (h), very fine.
