(Ordre des Palmes Académiques, Officier). Instituted in 1808. Type IV (1955-on). In silver with violet enamels, hallmarked with crab and maker marked "JP|" on the ring, measuring 27.5 mm (w) x 42.2 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, large rosette on its original ribbon, extremely fine.
