A 40th Field Artillery Regiment Hauptmann’s epaulette, consisting of a padded red wool base with a magnetic metal wire interior reinforcement, fully trimmed with an array of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire tassels, above an arrangement of black and red threaded tassels, the obverse bearing a bronze crescent border, pinned with dual gilded bronze rank pips, a field artillery cypher, and numerals “49”, with a protruding magnetic metal wire-reinforced button fastener, trimmed on the obverse with a silver aluminum wire tresse, unmarked, measuring 116 mm (w) x 145 mm (l), minor material fatigue evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
