The interior content consists of 449 matte paper stock pages, featuring a detailed history of firearms in colonial North America and their role in civil and military culture, as well as an index. This is supplemented by an extensive array of black-and-white photographs and diagrams. It was published in 1980 by Smithsonian Institution Press of Washington D.C. The book measures 225 mm (w) x 285 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident, but it is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
