United States. Two Good Conduct Medals

In bronze, measures 34mm (w) x 39.5mm (h - inclusive of rifle suspension bar), reverse engraved B1303 CLIFFORD F. MONTGOMERY 1st Enlistment 1935-1939, on original ribbon with brooch pinback bar obverse reads U.S. MARINE CORPS, wear to obverse, yellow patina, reverse heavily scratched across engraving, oxidation on pinbar, fine condition. Accompanied by research regarding Montgomery’s service. Footnote: Clifford Ford Montgomery was born on July 8 in Portland, Oregon. At the time of his enlistment, on December 16, 1935, he was a mechanic residing at 3403 NE 76th Avenue, Portland. He was appointed Private First Class on December 13, 1937, and Corporal on July 26, 1939. At the expiry of his enlistment, his character was considered excellent. He was recommended for a Good Conduct Medal on November 28, 1939. He reenlisted and joined the General Service Unit on June 13, 1940. He was on active duty from April 14, 1940 to January 16, 1941 and was then found physically unfit for active duty. United States Marine Corp Good Conduct Medal, bronze gilt, 34mm (w) x 34mm (h), reverse engraved ROBERT AZEVEDO, on original ribbon with rifle suspension and brooch pinback, reverse of pin stamped GI, wear to gilt on medal and rifle, slight edge bruising, overall near very fine condition. Accompanied by research documents pertaining to Azevedo’s service. Footnote: Robert Azevedo was born on July 23, 1940. He enlisted for the Marine Corp on August 12, 1958, and underwent recruit training from August 14 until November 3rd. On November 7, 1958 he joined the “R” Company, of the 3rd Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as a Bulk Fuel Man. On June 9, 1960, he was transferred to Boston, Mass, and was again transferred on December 18th to San Francisco. There he served as a Guard and Military Police Man. From January 16, 1962 until the end of his service on August 11, 1962, he was stationed in Quantico Virginia. He served as a messman and fireman. In 1962, he married Joan Debohra, with whom he had a daughter, Lynn Marie.
