(Holster für Walther P. 38). A Wehrmacht-issued holster for a Walther P38, constructed of thick, polished, blackened leather. It consists of a main body securely held together by a row of hand-stitched white threading. The reverse of the body bears two integrated blackened leather loops for belt attachment. Embossed onto the reverse is an inscription of “P38”, as well as a Waffenamt insignia and maker code “WAA383” for an unidentified manufacturer. It also bears embossed serial numbers of “X0386” and “029”. Stitched onto the frontal side is an additional pouch for the accommodation of an ammunition clip. It is topped by a flap, constructed of an additional piece of blackened, polished leather, which bears an integrated strap and magnetic metal oval eyelet meeting a magnetic metal loop emanating from the body, securely closing the holster during storage of the applicable weapon. The interior of the cover flap bears a handwritten owner’s name which appears to read “GFR. RYSCHAMY, 6. KOMP., 18. REGT”, with further inscriptions obscured or crossed out. It measures 200 mm (w) x 240 mm (h). Material fatigue consisting with age and use is evident to the exterior of the leather, and it is in an overall better than very fine condition.
