Constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, in front of a column topped by Olympic rings and within a date of “1936”, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYMPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES OF 1936”), unmarked, measuring 37.08 mm in diameter, weighing 19.2 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux white leather exterior, the exterior of the lid bearing gilt Olympic rings, the interior with a padded silver-grey satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted and depressed grey velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), oxidation and loss of finish is evident to the metal, while the case displays significant soiling and material fatigue, including the loss of a side panel, in overall very fine condition.
