A very well-preserved first edition of “Modern Shot Guns”, by W.W. Greener. The book is constructed of a heavy card stock binding with a blue canvas exterior, with the exterior of the cover bearing an embossed black title, with an additional title and author embossed on the spine. The interior content consists of 192 paginated white paper pages featuring detailed descriptions of period shotguns supplemented by diagrams and illustrations. This is followed by an index and an array of advertisements for W.W. Greener’s products, including firearms and reference materials. A former owner’s name of “WM. WOODRUFF” is handwritten on the interior of the cover. The book was published in 1888 by Cassell & Company, Limited, of New York. It measures 155 mm (w) x 208 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident to the exterior of the binding, and there is some discolouration of the pages, but the book is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
