A rare Canadian Red Ensign bunting flag, constructed of cotton with multi-coloured dye, featuring 17 panels, each depicting a Red Ensign used between 1870 and 1898, consisting of a red background, with a Union Flag at the top left corner, the bottom right bearing a shield with provincial crests, topped by a royal crown and above maple and oak leaf branches joined together at the bottom by a beaver, each panel measures 72.5 cm (w) x 40 cm (h), minor material fatigue and soiling is evident, an example used to celebrate the homecoming of Canadian soldiers after the North-West Rebellion of 1885, in overall near extremely fine condition.
