(Heer Schiffchen). A Heer EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of field-grey wool twill. The cap is fully surrounded by scalloped fold-down side panels, and is flanked on each side by ventilation holes reinforced with zink eyelets. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia in the form of a field-grey cotton backer bearing a machine-embroidered grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 60 mm (w) x 28 mm (h). Underneath the eagle insignia is a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h). The interior features a complete beige cotton liner, with the remnants of stamped markings which have since been rendered illegible. The cap measures 276 mm (l) x 110 mm (h). Material fatigue consisting with age and field use is evident, including fading and soiling of the exterior and interior, as well as sporadic holes and fraying. The cap is in an overall very fine condition.
