(Orden al Mérito por Servicios Distinguidos). Instituted in 1950. Three-piece construction, insignia in silver gilt with red and white enamels, mounted to a silver gilt base, maker marked "CASA NACIONAL DE MONEDA LIMA-PERU" on the reverse cartouche, measuring 53.8 mm (w) x 63.7 mm (h), intact enamels, replacement shortened neck ribbon, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Merit for Distinguished Service was instituted on July 18, 1950 and is awarded for distinguished services to Peru in the fields of the arts, sciences, industry or business, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
