Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with 1914 sword clasp, the obverse bearing a raised rightward-facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central Saxe-Coburg & Gotha coat of arm, flanked by lions rampant, topped by an inscription of “FUER VERDIENSTE” (“FOR SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 31.22 mm (w) x 50.06 mm (h), weighing 24.2 grams, in better than very fine condition.
