(Roter Adlerorden, II. Klasse). Instituted on 12 June 1792 by Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm II. Type IV. (1854-1918 Issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse centerpiece with a finely-detailed, hand-painted Prussian imperial eagle on a white enameled medallion, the reverse with a gilt monogram of Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm II on an analogous white enameled medallion, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original neck ribbon, measuring 47.32 mm (w) x 52.38 mm (h), weighing 25.4 grams, the obverse medallion has loosened, and some flecking of the enamels is evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
