(Heer Feldmütze für Offiziere). A very well-preserved Heer Officer’s M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by scalloped fold-down side panels offering partial neck and ear protection which, when not in use, are rolled up and secured in place with two pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. A band of silver aluminum wire piping fully surrounds the crown, indicating Officer issue. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia in the form of a field-grey rayon trapezoid bearing a machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, above a tri-colour cockade. The insignia measures 65 mm (w) x 50 mm (h). The exterior features complete with a protruding visor with a cardboard reinforcement. A light grey rayon liner fully encompasses the interior, presenting plain with the exception of a black ink size stamp of “58”. It measures approximately 190 mm (w) x 265 mm (l) x 130 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident to the wool, but the cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
