Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Steinhauer & Lück

(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a central square laurel leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, flanked on each side by four sun rays and oak leaves with acorns, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and fluted horizontal pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.98 mm (w) x 25.35 mm (h), weighing 28.4 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost, in overall very fine condition.
