(Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille mit Etui). Instituted 31 July 1936. (1936-1937 issue). Constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a central raised German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by a date of “1936”, on top of a column topped by Olympic rings, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYMPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES OF 1936”), unmarked, measuring 37.29 mm in diameter, weighing 18.4 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux white leather exterior, the lid bearing gilt Olympic rings, the interior with a light grey satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed grey felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), with some oxidation evident to the medal in addition to material fatigue of the case, in overall near extremely fine condition.
