(Medalla de África). Instituted in 1912 by King Alfonso XIII. Constructed of bronze, the obverse featuring an etched portrait of Alfonso XIII with the inscription ESPAÑA Y AFRICA (Spain and Africa), the reverse displaying a women holding the Spanish coat of arms on an Africa’s map, measuring 35.53 mm (w) x 40.59 mm (h - inclusive of integral ball suspension), with toned silver and minor oxidation on the reverse, suspended by original breast ribbon with typical Spanish horizontal hanger with pinback, good condition.

 

Footnote: The Medal for Africa was instituted on September 8, 1912, to recognize military and civil service in Spanish Africa.
