A 1914 Iron Cross, I Class, (Eisernes Kreuz 1914 I. Klasse). Reinstituted 5 August 1914. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse is plain and bears a banjo style vertical pinback and round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 42.52 mm (w) x 42.12 mm (h), weighing 12.1 grams, very fine.
A 1914 Iron Cross I Class Award Document to Musketeer Erich Liebig of the 4th Company Infantry Regiment 437, on cream coloured paper. Issued in the field on 22 May 1917, stamped and signed. Presenting two folding creases, with two holes punched at the left side. Minimal scuffing and tears. Measuring 175 mm (w) x 257 mm (h), very fine.
