The note carries a stamp of the 1st Company of 1st Baden Life Grenadier Regiment No. 109. It is dated “in the field” to March 15, 1917 and addressed to “family Georg Koch” in Edingen (present day Edingen-Neckarhausen, southwest Germany). It is stated that Grenadier Jakob Koch died on March 13 of wounds received in combat, and that he was buried with military honours on the soldier cemetery in Mangiennes. The note is signed by a lieutenant of the reserve and company leader named Ebeler. Measuring 210 mm (w) x 165 mm (h), presenting a folding crease and light creasing of the edges, remains near extremely fine.
