A 1914 Iron Cross II Class, (Eisernes Kreuz). Instituted 10 March 1813 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. 1914 Issue. An Iron Cross with magnetic iron core, silver frame, black patina, crown on obverse 12 o’clock arm, “1914” on obverse 6 o’clock arm, “W” on obverse centre which stands for Wilhelm, crowned cipher “FW” on reverse 12 o’clock arm, “1813” on reverse 6 o’clock arm, oak branch on reverse centre, indistinguishable maker’s mark on suspension ring, measuring 43 mm (w) x 47.67 mm (h), on black ribbon with narrow white stripes, very fine.

A 1914 Iron Cross II Class Award Document to Musketeer Walther Karl Alfred Wichmann of the 2nd Landsturm Infantry Battalion, on cream-colored paper. Issued on 10 December 1917, stamped and signed. Presenting two folding creases, slight discolouration, scuffing and tears, The reverse has a note in blue ink. Measuring 210 mm (w) x 166 mm (h), fine.
