Instituted April 10, 1942. A Grand Cross badge in the shape of a Croatian style cross moline, composed of silver portraying a red enamelled cross, the obverse center presents a silver letter “U” with a flaming grenade with the Croatian šahovnica, reverse presenting red-enamelling and the inscription 10.IV. ZA ZASLUGE 1942, measuring 57.40 (w) x 60.90mm (h - inclusive of integral suspension bar), on ornate detailed suspension loop, unmarked but typical of Braca Knaus, Zagreb manufacture, attached toa replacement full sash ribbon, enamels intact, worn silver, very fine condition. Accompanied by the eight point breast star, composed of clusters of seven smooth rays, the obverse superimposed medallion red-enamelled cross, also featuring a silver letter "U" with a flaming grenade with the Croatian šahovnica, reverse centre presenting a silvered cross inscribed 10.IV. ZA ZASLUGE 1942, reverse presents a principle pin assembly, measures 85.48mm (w) x 84.55 (h), weighs 52.4 grams, unmarked but typical of Braca Knaus, Zagreb manufacture, wear to silver, enamels intact, very fine condition.
