Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich II, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), unmarked, measuring 38.32 mm in diameter, weighing 30.4 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
