Germany, Imperial. An Old Master of Fencing Badge

(Deutsche Krieger-Fechtanstalt Abzeichen). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, vertical pinback, the obverse consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, with a central laurel leaf wreath overlaid by a depiction of fencers shaking hands, with a green enameled laurel leaf joining the quadrants, topped by a German State Crown, unmarked, measuring 52.03 mm (w) x 73.86 mm (h), weighing 41.1 grams, with evidence of repair to the pinback, in overall very fine condition.
