Two-piece construction, in Gold with blue enamels, weighing 4.9 grams inclusive of its hanger, number engraved "8192" and "42" on the reverse of the star, maker marked "J.E. CALDWELL & CO" and marked "PAT'D 8 11. 96" on the reverse of the anchor, measuring 23.5 mm (w) x 26.7 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, intact enamels, suspended from a ribbon banner style hanger with pinback via a large ring, the hanger inscribed "NORTH CAROLINA", extremely fine. Accompanied by an independent ribbon blue and white ribbon with pinback.

Footnote: The United States Daughters of 1812 is an association of female descendants of veterans of the War of 1812, established on January 8, 1892, in Cleveland. It is a non-profit, women's organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to serving the "fraternal interests [of] women whose lineal ancestors served in the civil government, the army or the navy of the United States" between 1784 and 1815. It is a "volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving and increasing knowledge of the history of the American people" and is active in commemorating significant events from the time period of the War of 1812, such as the Battle of New Orleans.
