Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich of Baden, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), within a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse engraver marked “C. SCHNITZSPAHN”, measuring 40.54 mm in diameter, weighing 34.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
