Saxony, Kingdom. An Honour Cross for Voluntary Social Welfare Work in Wartime, 1914-1916

(Ehrenkreuz für freiwillige Wohlfahrtspflege im Kriege 1914-16). Instituted 1 March 1912 by King Friedrich August III. (1912-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central raised monogram of King Friedrich August III, within a blue enameled ring, the reverse with central raised dates “1914-1916”, with a laurel and oak leaf wreath through the quadrants, unmarked, measuring 27.5 mm (w) x 32.5 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
