(Heer Stiefelhose). An extremely well-preserved pair of Heer General’s breeches, constructed of grey wool twill. The breeches feature an integrated belt arrangement in the form of two grey wool reverse straps emanating from the sides, meeting functional magnetic metal buckles. The fly closes with vertically-arranged grey bakelite buttons on the left flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the right flap, with an additional magnetic metal clasp on the top left meeting an analogous loop. Two side pockets are located at the upper thighs, each closing with a reinforced buttonhole meeting a grey bakelite button, while the upper left also features a reinforced horizontal slit. There is a single reverse pocket, located on the right leg, closing with a reinforced buttonhole meeting a grey bakelite button. Machine stitched into the side of each leg are red wool stripes, encompassing the full length from waistband to ankle. Each ankle has a 230 mm vertical slit closed with five grey bakelite buttons meeting reinforced buttonholes. Set into the reverse waistband are dual grey wool straps sliding through integrated loops on the interior, each with a grey bakelite button, accommodating suspenders. The waistband features a striped cotton liner into which is set an arrangement of four grey bakelite buttons, with two additional brown cotton straps bearing functional magnetic metal snap buttons. The interior features are completed by a partial checked cotton liner. The breeches are unmarked and measure approximately 420 mm across the waist, with an inseam of 370 mm and an overall length of 920 mm. Minor material fatigue is evident, with some soiling of the interior. The breeches are in an overall extremely fine condition.
