Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Fall-Pattern Oak Leaf Camouflage Mask

(Waffen-SS Eichenlaubtern Gesichtsmaske). This is an extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS fall-pattern oak leaf camouflage mask, constructed of a cotton twill exterior displaying a predominantly brown mottled camouflage pattern, with a grey wool reverse lining. The mask features holes for the wearer’s eyes, nose, and mouth, all reinforced with rows of machine stitching. The nose hole is covered by an additional raised triangular patch of camouflaged cotton, allowing for ventilation without compromising the functionality. The reverse features an array of cotton straps, two of which each bear dual reinforced buttonholes meeting a grey zink button on the exterior, allowing for an adjustable fit, with a third sliding strap through which the others are looped ensuring a flush fit with the wearer’s head. The mask is unmarked and measures approximately 235 mm (w) x 255 mm (h). In extremely fine condition.
