A fine example of a 1872-1874 issue Kreuz 4. Klasse mit Genfer Kreuz; constructed of bronze gilt; the obverse with a central gilt medallion depicting the Royal Crown, surrounded by a ring of blue enamels, inscribed “Gott Mit Uns” in gold lettering, with golden arabesques directly beneath, and a red and white enameled cross on the top arm of the cross; the reverse with a centre gilt medallion, depicting the Royal Monogram of Wilhelmus Rex, surrounded by a ring of blue enamels, inscribed “den 18 Ooctober 1861” in gilt lettering; on loop for suspension - marked “N” for “Nubell, Hannover”; with its period original ribbon; measuring 41.90 mm x 41.86 mm; weighing 14.0 grams; lightly soiled ribbon, with light to moderate chipping of the enamels on the obverse, in overall extremely fine condition.
