Germany, Third Reich. An Air Protection Honour Medal, II Class with Case

(Luftschutz-Ehrenzeichen, II. Stufe mit Etui). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1945 issue). Constructed of aluminum, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse with a central raised mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ” (“FOR MERIT IN AIR DEFENCE”), the reverse with a central raised date of “1938”, unmarked, measuring 38.77 mm (w) x 44.03 mm (h), weighing 13.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by a boutonniere and its period original case, the latter constructed of pale green card stock, the lid bearing an inscription of “LUFTSCHUTZ-EHRENZEICHEN 2. STUFE”, the interior plain, unmarked, measuring 46 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 18 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
