(Medaille des Deutschen Rotes Kreuzes). Instituted 6 April 1937 by Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. (1937-1939 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original triangular style ribbon,
consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with red enameled arms joined together by a white enameled ring, overlaid by a central DRK-style black enameled German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse pebbled, with an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS DEUTSCHE ROTE KREUZ” (“FOR MERIT IN THE GERMAN RED CROSS”), unmarked but typical Godet, Berlin example, measuring 38.2mm in diameter, no chipping to enamels, in overall near extremely fine condition.
