Germany, Heer. An EM/NCO M43 Field Cap, c.1944

An M43 cap constructed of field grey wool, featuring a fold down back and side panels which slope downwards and button at the front with two magnetic metal pebbled buttons on the left and two threaded reinforced buttoning holes on the right, the front centre of the cap bears a trapezoid cap insignia of a national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in grey thread, below is a cockade in red, white and black machine woven thread on a field grey base, the interior of the cap is of a grey satin material and marked “1/0450/0272 56 1944”with a cloth covered forward visor, measuring 220 mm (w) x 100 mm (h), extremely fine.
