Germany, Wehrmacht. A General Assault Badge, by F.W. Assmann & Söhne

(Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, with a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounded integral catch, maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, with a cast model number “2”, measuring 42.12 mm (w) x 52.82 mm (h), weighing 25.0 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost, in overall near extremely fine condition.
