Germany, Kriegsmarine. A High Seas Fleet Badge, Type 3, by Schwerin

(Flottenkriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a frontal depiction of a battleship cutting through waves, the reverse with a block hinge, maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 43.86 mm (w) x 57.09 mm (h), weighing 31.7 grams, the badge is missing its pinback and catch, an example of Schwerin’s type 3 variation in very fine condition.
