(Heer Schiffchen für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Heer Panzer EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by scalloped fold-down side panels, secured in place at the peak with two pieces of machine stitching. It is flanked on each side by ventilation holes, both reinforced with zink eyelets. Hand-stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 68 mm (w) x 28 mm (h). Underneath the eagle, the cap bears a tri-colour cockade, consisting of a black rayon backer bearing multi-coloured machine embroidery, and measuring 34 mm (w) x 34 mm (h). Surrounding the cockade is a period original soutache in classic rose-pink Panzer Waffenfarbe. The interior features a complete olive-drab cotton liner, clearly bearing a manufacturer’s stamp of “J. SCHMATZ & CO. KAPPENFABRIK, WIEN” in black ink. The cap measures approximately 280 mm (l) x 112 mm (h) when folded. With the exception of minor fatigue of the soutache threading, the cap is free of evident faults and is in an extremely fine condition.
