Constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse bearing a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop maker marked “WH” for an unidentified manufacturer, measuring 41.17 mm (w) x 46.06 mm (h), weighing 19.3 grams, accompanied by a presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame, the exterior with a faux leather liner bearing a Cross Pattée motif, the interior with a white satin lid liner, with a removable depressed white velvet medal bed, the reverse of the bed with a swivel stand, also bearing a handwritten inscription of “A. KAHLKY, UNTOFFZ 7/31, 1914-195”, measuring 75 mm (w) x 136 mm (l) x 24 mm (h), minor oxidation evident to the cross, with age-appropriate material fatigue to the case, a unique dedicated set in overall near extremely fine condition.
