Germany, Luftwaffe. A Ground Assault Badge, Early 1957 Issue

(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). An early quality 1957 version reflective of period wartime insignia, in silvered zinc, the obverse with an oval oak leaf wreath with a ribbon on the bottom, topped by a Luftwaffe-style German national eagle, with a cloud towards the top and a lightning bolt striking the ground, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 43.03 mm (w) x 56.86 mm (h), weighing 34.9 grams, in better than very fine condition.
