(5. SS-Panzerdivision „Wiking“ feldgraue Sturmgeschützjacke für einen Scharführer einer Panzerjäger-Abteilung). A rare and extremely well-preserved 5th SS Panzer Division “Wiking” Artillery/Assault Gun Scharführer wrap, constructed of a field-grey wool blend. It features an integrated collar flanked on each side by tabs. On the right, an insignia tab is constructed of smooth black wool, trimmed with red piping, and bears dual machine-embroidered silver-grey Sig runes, measuring 45 mm (w) x 55 mm (l) overall. The left side bears a rank tab, similarly constructed of smooth black wool and trimmed with red piping, pinned with a single aluminum rank pip and overlaid by a single machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire tresse. The rank tab also measures 45 mm (w) x 55 mm (l) overall. The shoulders are flanked on each side by straps, both constructed of black wool, trimmed with red piping, and bordered by a machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire tresses. Both measuring 45 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), the straps are secured in place by a reverse strap set through an integrated loop on the outer edge of the tunic, and by a pebbled, silvered zink button on the inner edge. Stitched onto the upper left arm is an insignia in the form of a black cotton-blended backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 85 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). The cuff of the same sleeve bears a fully-intact title, constructed of a black woven rayon blend, trimmed along both the top and bottom edges with silver aluminum wire, and bearing a central machine-embroidered silver-grey inscription of “WIKING”. The cuff of each sleeve also features a vertical slit, with one side of the slit bearing two dark grey bakelite buttons meeting a reinforced buttonhole on the opposite side, providing for a custom fit. The wrap is close by an arrangement of nine bakelite buttons of various sizes on the right flap meeting an equal number of buttonholes on the left flap. The interior features a partial liner consisting of multiple pieces of grey herringbone rayon, with a drawstring emanating from the lower portion of each side. A single interior pocket is located at the lower left flap, and opens with a reinforced vertical slit. The interior features are completed by an integrated cotton suspension loop set into the collar. It is unmarked with the exception of stamped black ink size dimensions on the interior of the left breast flap, reading “42, 41, 88, 67, 64”. It measures approximately 440 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 570 mm and an overall body length of 540 mm. Minor material fatigue is evident to the interior, but the wrap is a rare example in extremely fine condition.
