Germany, Luftwaffe. A Late-War Glider Pilot’s Badge

(Segelflugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, across the wreath is a Luftwaffe eagle in mid-flight over a hollow background, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 50.90 mm (w) x 55.96 mm (h), weighing 19.8 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost, a late-war example in overall better than very fine condition.
