Bavaria, Kingdom. A Veterans Association Cross for Exceptional Merit by Deschler & Sohn

(Bundesehrenkreuz I. Klasse für besondere Verdienste). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of an elongated Cross Pattée, the obverse with white arms, with a central oval enameled medallion bearing a checkered Bavarian flag motif overlaid by a gilt lion rampant, within a ring ofblack enamel bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE U. D. BAYER KRIEGBUND” (“FOR MERIT IN THE BAVARIAN VETERANS ASSOCIATION”), the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with two visible rivets holding the obverse applique in place, maker marked “DESCHLER U. SOHN, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 45 mm (w) x 53 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
