Germany, Third Reich. A Social Welfare Decoration, III Class with Case, by Gebrüder Godet

(Ehrenzeichen für deutsche Volkspflege, III. Klasse mit Etui). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms, overlaid by a central black enameled and gilt-highlighted NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, unmarked, measuring 39.92 mm (w) x 44.55 mm (h), weighing 15.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded dark blue satin lid liner, overlaid by a ribbon bearing a gilt inscription of “EHRENZEICHEN FÜR DEUTSCHE VOLKSPFLEGE 3. STUFE”, with a depressed dark blue velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, the exterior bottom bearing an embossed maker’s mark of “GEBR. GODET, BERLIN”, measuring 65 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) x 26 mm (h), some flecking of enamels evident to the cross, and the hinge cover has been severed, in overall better than very fine condition.
