(Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille 1936). Instituted 31 July 1936. (1936-1937 issue). Constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a central raised Olympic column and rings, overlaid by a NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates “1936”, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYMPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS ASSISTANCE TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES OF 1936”), above an oak leaf branch, unmarked, measuring 37.12 mm in diameter, weighing 19.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux white leather exterior liner, the exterior of the lid bearing embossed Olympic rings within an embossed border, the interior with a padded grey satin lid liner, with a depressed dark grey velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), some oxidation and loss of finish is evident to the medal, the hinge cover has been severed, and the case demonstrates some material fatigue, in overall very fine condition.
