Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot & Observer Badge, by Friedrich Linden

(Flugzeugführer- und Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of a gilt oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a block hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 63.64 mm (w) x 53.05 mm (h), weighing 41.7 grams, some loss of gilt finish apparent, with evidence of repair or replacement of the catch, in overall better than very fine condition.
