(Deutsches Kreuz in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of a gilded and silvered bronze alloy with enamels, the obverse consisting of a double-overlaid eight-pointed starburst pattern, with a central silvered bronze disc overlaid by an Iron Cross-style Cross Pattée, set within a circular laurel leaf wreath, wrapped with ribbon and joined together at the bottom by a date of “1941”, with red enameled rings trimming both the interior and exterior of the wreath, with four visible rivets securing the obverse features in place, with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 64.30 mm (w) x 64.23 mm (h), weighing 54.4 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a white cotton-blended liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted black felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 105 mm (w) x 105 mm (l) x 35 mm (h), with some loss of finish evident to the decoration, in addition to material fatigue of the exterior liner of the case, in overall near extremely fine condition.
