Constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop maker marked with a “K” for an unidentified manufacturer, measuring 42.62 mm (w) x 46.40 mm (h), weighing 18.0 grams, accompanied by a unique commemorative presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux purple leather exterior, the lid bearing a detailed depiction of the decoration, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner, with an Imperial tri-colour ribbon set into the upper right corner, with a depressed white velvet medal bed, retaining a card stock insert bearing an inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD IS WITH US”) in silvered and blackened Fraktur script, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, maker marked on the bottom “GLASER & SÖHNE, DRESDEN”, measuring 65 mm (w) x 92 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), likely manufactured ca. 1940 for a First World War Veteran, a unique set in overall near extremely fine condition.
