Constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flattened catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/15” for Otto Schickle, Pforzheim, measuring 44.34 mm (w) x 44.23 mm (h), weighing 20.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of heavy card stock with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a black ink LDO insignia, with a slotted white felt medal bed, measuring 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), minor oxidation and material fatigue are evident to the cross and case, respectively, a classic Orth-style Schickle variant in overall near extremely fine condition.
