(Ostvolkmedaille I. Klasse in Gold mit Schwertern und Etui). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, with a central rosette within a circular laurel wreath, with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, the pinback maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “100” for Wächtler & Lange, Mittweida, measuring 49.53 mm (w) x 49.28 mm (h), weighing 19.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the lid bearing a gilt depiction of the award, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted black felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, 68 mm (w) x 64 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), the badge has lost most of its gilt finish and some material fatigue is evident to the case, in overall better than very fine condition.
