In silvered white metal, obverse illustrating a prostate man, with another man leaning over and aiding him, a horse behind the two figures, two palm trees at the far left and a building at the far right, inscribed "GO AND DO THOU LIKEWISE" above and "St LUKE CHAP 10 / V.25.TO THE 37." below, reverse illustrating the Druid's insignia with a ribbon banner below inscribed "HUMANITY FRIENDSHIP LOVE & UNITY", the insignia framed by a wreath formed by a branch of laurel leaves at the left and a branch of oak leaves and acorns at the right, surrounded by the inscription "SHEFFIELD UNION OF THE ORDER OF DRUIDS", measuring 53 mm in diameter, drill hole at the top, edge nicks, bruised, traces of silvering remains, very fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
