Prussia, Kingdom. A War Merit Medal for Combatants 1813-15

(Erinnerungs Kriegsdenkmünze für die Jahre 1813-1815) Instituted 17 March 1863. A circular medal constructed of bronze, the obverse bears the left facing portrait of Friedrich Wilhelm III, below is a banner with the dates “1813 1814 1815” over some laurel leaves, partially circumscribed with “FRIEDRICH WILHELM III KÖNIG V. PREUSSEN” (FRIEDRICH WILHELM III KING OF PRUSSIA), the reverse bears a central crowned cipher “WR” (Wilhelm Rex), with a sprig of laurel and oak at the bottom, the top reads “17 MARZ 1863”, with loop for suspension, measuring 29 mm (w) x 34.06 mm (h), very fine.
